Thursday 29 March 2018

For the finale, you need to create a collection of four outfits. You'll be judged on the outfits individually, how they work together, and of course, how well they follow the instructions.

You need to incorporate all of the following 5 controversial trends. Failure to incorporate them will result in points being deducted.

You only need to use each trend once, though if you want to use them more than that, you can. The overall theme is still street style!

It's highly recommended that you explain your choices as to how you styled each theme. As always, you can feel free to use either your own doll in your suite, or in the starplaza.

DUE APRIL 14TH

The Required Trends:

Clicking on the images will make them bigger!

Fluffy Feet

Fluffy, furry shoes are a thing. Why? Well, that's a mystery to us, but maybe you can figure it out by making them look fashionable.

Holes & Holes

Arm holes, cutouts, missing shoulders, ripped to pieces or moth-eaten - holes are apparently here to stay.

Not My Clothes

Oversized clothing is one of the latest of mis-matched yet must-have items. From boyfriends to best friends, these items are easy to borrow, but tricky to style. Will you borrow from MR, find something already huge, or resize something? It's totally up to you.

Apparently, Plastic

Totally transparent, clear plastic everything is basically everywhere. This one has been a long-time trend within Stardoll, so there's no lack of items to choose from.

Weird Jeans

From crotch-less to double wasted, oddly attatched to matching denim skirt, detatchable pieces and odd cutouts, weird jeans have been all over the front pages of fashion for a few months now. Stardoll has yet to catch on, though, so for this trend you'll need to get a little creative and make your own!

Sorry for the massive delays. Myrthe did not end up submitting any feedback.

Noismini is out, but that means she is our THIRD PLACE for cycle 3! The prizes are mostly sponsored so will be rewarded when they are made available by the relevant people. The finale task will be announced late Friday!

Mireia  Very great outfits! Individually I pretty much like them all. However, I think outfit 1 is not representing that well the bran with the platforms and the sweater... Too sporty somehow. Other than that, the other two outfits are really good. Maybe bare legs on winter (3rd outfit) would not be a great idea, but fashion sometimes means dealing with the weather a bit so I'll pass that. Not sure about that bag on the third outfit by the way. But in general, I really like your entry and how you represented the designer. Second outfit is my fav both for Karen Walker and as an outfit by itself.

Lucy- I love these all individually, and that you've incorporated a variety of elements from the previous collections. Like Mireia I think the first look is a bit sportier and less "constructed" than the other two, which doesn't quite match the branding. And some tights on the third may have made it more weather-appropriate. You've definitely captured the odd prints and oversized shapes of Karen Walker!

Leigh- KW is one of my favourite brands so I'm really happy that you picked it and did so well with it! The glasses are awesome, because KW has had a couple of glasses collections recently, and the oversized jackets were essential. Like the other two, the first look is a bit too sporty and casual for KW's style and they're maybe not very wintery.

Mireia - Great interpretation of DKNY! Even if you have not said you were going for that show I would have known! However, I don't think your outfit are too powerful for a front row, except the third outfit (that I LOVE), the other two are more plain. Not sure about the sneakers with the skirt on the first outfit and on the second one the umbrella looks totally out of place. Nice use of double shoes, but I don't like either that a bag with the golden lock with the rest of the outfit. So, nice approach but could have been a bit more extravagant or complex in order to be captured on the front row.

Lucy - That umbrella maybe suits the concept of the seasons, but doesn't work with the outfits, of the theme. The double shoes work on the first look, and the third, but looks very awkward for the middle look. Actually, the middle look in general is a bit unfortunate. I absolutely love the third look though, there's plenty of layers and textures and it's definitely fashion-week worthy. There's nothing particularly bad about the first look, it's just plain. As for DKNY, I think you've done well enough, and I'm glad you didn't immediately buy a bunch of DKNY from the bazaar.

Leigh - That second outfit is... not good. The third outfit is awesome! I think like Mireia I just want to see more than what you've given us. They're definitely season and show appropriate which is good, though I think I would have like to be able to tell if it was an Autumn show or a Spring show and this is sort of "any" season.

NOISMINI - 6.58

Mireia  - The three outfits are quite nice, but the only one that has some DKNY vibes is the first one (and just a little bit). Third outfit is made of Fendi and would be better for a Fendi front row, not wearing that to DKNY. Second outfit, another bag would have been SO much better. Lucy's gonna comment about gold/silver I guess haha First outfit is nice, but just very regular and basic. We've seen so much better from you and this is not semifinal material I believe...

Lucy - Like with Louisa.karemina I'm glad you didn't just stock up on DKNY items. But like Mireia I don't think these really match the branding or style of any DKNY show I'd ever seen, particularly with the third look which is just...no. and yeah, silver and gold, you need to style it right or don't do it. The second look is definitely a "don't do it" moment. I'm not even sure why you went with a cat purse of all things? The first look is the best in terms of matching the aesthetic of the brand, and I like the colour palette, but it's way too plain to save the rest of the looks.

Leigh - Mmmh yeah I think my words have been said already. This is just not what I would have ever thought anyone would get out of DKNY. Did you just look at the "fashion week" and "street style" bits and forgot about the rest? Maybe if you'd included inspiration for other shows you could have convinced me, but googling it I can't find where on earth you would have gotten the inspiration from to end up with... these. And they're not very summery either.

Tuesday 6 March 2018

You need to create THREE outfits which could be found sitting in the front row of ONE of the following fashion shows.

This means your looks must be street style, as they are attending one of the following brands' 2018 runway event, sitting in the front row. Think about what these brands are known for, and the kind of people you would expect to attend their shows. Don't forget to include current trends, because only the most fashionable get to sit in the front!

Feel free to google previous collections to get an idea about their style, and remember - you won't be wearing their latest/current collection's style if it's debuting on the runway you're watching!

We've also included an indication of the weather you'd expect when you go to and leave the show - summer being warm and dry, winter being cold and snowy, transitional being mild but wet. Be practical! Bikinis out in the snow won't be very comfy.

Please tell us which brand + which fashion show your outfits will be attending. As always, you cannot use the same runway as someone else, so make sure to put the name of the runway on your discussion.

Task 8 is over - and the semi-finals are coming!

Unfortunately, we have to say goodbye to Me4evr  first.
The winner of this task was
Noismini! For the semi-finals, we will not be adding the +0.5 you get for the previous rounds winnings.

LoveFotinh - 8.75

Mireia - I'm pretty impressed with how your task turned out! Both your outfits are perfect for the necklaces you picked, first looks the same and second looks amazing with the necklace. Really good job! On the first outfit I'm a little confused with what is picking out under the fur though, and I'm not very into the outfit by itself. However it is reminding me of the necklace so points for that. The second outfit is... perfect!!

Lucy - I love the colours of both looks, as they tie in excellently with the necklaces! Like M, I'm a bit confused as to the items poking out from under the fur jacket. The second look ties together some super tricky pieces in a way that totally works, and I love it! I might have put the bag in the other hand, but that's just pickyness.

Leigh - The first one does match the necklace but to me it seems just too plain. The layers you have, as the other two said already, don't do anything good.  I would have liked to see some kind of stripe as that's the way some of the rows are beaded. But it's okay...the secondly look totally wins though, the shapes and layers are awesome!

Myrthe -  Wow I love the colours of your outfits, one is very bright and the other one is toned done. They are two opposites of each other. The bright colours of outfit 1 really match the necklace and the vibe. You managed to create a well composed outfit and use all the colours without overdoing it. Like Mireia I'm wondering what's poking under the fur tho. For your second outfit I love the items you used, they are very special and hard to make an outfit with. You managed to do it and looks great and creative! Well done.

Louisa.karemina - 7.125

Mireia  - So, first look looks to flowy for me. If you go for this loose trousers I would have liked something more tight on the upper part or the other way round. Also, even if the necklace does not look bad with the outfit, I have the feeling like with that big necklace your outfit would be too much, cause it already looks complete without the necklace somehow. About your second outfit, I love it! But, it's more discrete than the necklace. I get where the inspiration comes from, but you would have needed more colour into your outfit and more baroque feeling.

Lucy - I'm sort of unsure as to...well, all of this. As Mireia  pointed out, the first look's flowy structure just would look way too much if you added the neckalce - even as it is, it's overwhelming, especially with being almost all pink. The second look has a similar issue - I actually love it for an outfit, but for the necklace, there's so much going on around the top area, I think it would get lost - or just look overwhelming. The colours on both looks are really well matched though, which can be hard to pull off with pastels.

Leigh - I think I've seen to many all pastel looks lately, I sort of left judging these to last....but oh that first look, the pants are a no, and why on EARTH are you using a dress under pants???????  The second look, like Lucy, I really like to look at, but think there is a LOT going on up the top already so adding the necklace to that might not go well. The bag is an odd choice.

Myrthe - I agree with Mireia that your first outfit is too flowy, the pants would have looked better with a tight top. The necklace with that top part would have been even more bombastic. The colours would look good with it, but the structure and feeling of the first outfit isn't right for me. I like the look you went for on the second outfit, but I would have done something totally different with that necklace. Something more toned down so the necklace would jump out and be the special piece of your together, combined with some little details with pops of colour.

Me4evr - 6.18

M - Both your entries are good but they look like something is missing, like you should take one step forward for creating more outstanding outfits. The colour interpretation of the first necklace you choose is great, but the style doesn't quite fully match. It's not bad, but I think you could have done better. Also, sunglasses and clutch kinda look out of place. For the second outfit, I love the necklace you chose, very original! And I like your "galactic" outfit, but I still can't picture both together, which is not so good for the purpose of the task.

Lucy - Like Mireia , something is just missing from both looks, and the aesthetics aren't quite what I felt fit either necklace. Initially I wasn't too into the colours, either, but they're passable.  The second necklace was one of the more random looking ones, and there's a lot you could have taken from it - which is why just doing pastels was a little bit of a let down to me.

Lucy - The colours I... I don't know. It's sort of been said already, there's a lot you could have done here that just didn't happen, more than anything actually being bad, there's just a lack of anything going on. It's just a bit late on in the cycle for that.

Myrthe - The colour use of your both outfits is correct, but they are too simplistic. Especially for your first outfit. I think a more boohoo outfit style would have matched the style of this necklace better. It uses more natural stones. I'm not a fan of the glasses and the bag you used with it, since it's white and looks totally random with the other colours. Your second outfit is a little bit better, you used more items here. But I wish I saw something more and new! The style matches the necklace, but I expected more

Noismini - 8.52 + 0.5 = 9.02

M - The outfit for necklace B... I'm loving it so much! The outfit by itself looks amazing, and with the pop of that necklace must be still more gorgeous. Love how you have combined orange, red and blue! Wow! Just imaging this colours together make me scream, but you made it and looks amazing! For the outfit for necklace E, it gives me similar vibes for the geometry of the necklace and the shape of your outfit, but I'm missing some more red into your outfit. I love the make up you used, cause that's totally the necklace, but I would have liked to see some more red besides the earrings.

Lucy - I absolutely adore the colours you went for out of the first necklace! I sort of wish you'd thrown a little pastel pink in, but I don't miss it too much. The little bit of yellow on the Fenid strap ets some serious bonus points for detail! The second look is definitely loud looking, but taking a moment it ends up rather simple. Like Mireia I would have loved to see more red as well.

Leigh - You're all reading my mind! Outfit one, the colours and textures are really awesome and nicely balanced, and there's like a featured pop in each section so adding the necklace would even make it a rounded out which is perfect. The second looks un-cordinated to me, the dress print versus the bag print is odd and more of the primary colours - red, blue, yellow - would have worked better.

Myrthe - I love what you did here! I like the structure of the tight jumpsuite with that flowy cardigan. Good combination. Good eye for the colours here, you managed to use the colours of your necklace into your look to make it a whole. It would look so good with that necklace on. The second outfit has an interesting shape and looks like the shape of the necklace which is a nice detail! I agree with Mireia that it misses some red. I do think it's nice you used red earrings and the blue make-up!
