Lucy's Top 5 Tips

It's almost cycle time, and it's always a good idea to read up on what the judges are looking for, and what you can do to help yourself out! Here's Lucy's top 5 tips for entering cycles.

1: READ THE FEEDBACK

Reading your own feedback helps, so that you know what you need to do to improve, or to continue doing - BUT you should also read other people's feedback.

Reading other competitors feedback helps you to learn what each judge looks for, and will help you understand what you are competing against - and, thus, what you need to do to win.

2: Don't cover or clash with your outfit

This is a major issue in the early stages of almost every cycle - too many people use very long hairs and wigs, which cover up their outfits!

For this reason, if you happen to wear a long wig in-suite, you might be better off styling your look in the plaza, and using a Tress-Up wig. I repeat, we're not judging hair and makeup, so it doesn't matter if you don't have facemasks on.

TO BE CLEAR - We are not judging your hair, facemasks, or makeup. However, if it physically blocks out view of the outfit, or otherwise impedes our judging, points will be deducted - see images below for examples.

3: Avoid Poses

It's a rare outfit that poses make look good - for the most part, they just look lazy. This is a styling competition, and we're looking for how you put items together - not how much you pay to play the game.

Just like long hair, they often cover over the actual details of the outfit that we are looking for.

That's not to say you can never wear them - you can, you just need to be 200% sure it's worth the risk.

4: Try The "Rule Of Thirds"

I've written THIS POST all about it - it's a super easy, uncomplicated way of making an outfit look balanced.

It's great for when you want to use a statement piece, too.

5: Read the judge's blogs

My blog is ThisIsTheDoll. Mirdith shares a blog, Stylish Stardoll Sisters, and club FM-STYLE with her sister Judith.  Myrthe also has a club, Just.In.Vogue.

There's lots of tips, tutorials, and personal opinions on the blogs that you can use to keep looking your best and impress us all!

The clubs can also give you an insight into the styles and previous judging used by us in previous cycles - you can find out what we've seen before, what we love to see, and what the standard we have are.
